Local Shopping and Other Needs
Shopping and Medical
The most convenient shopping town is Arnay-le-Duc, five miles away. Besides being extremely picturesque, with remnants of medieval walls and fortifications, plus 14th, 15th, and 16th century buildings, Arnay has two supermarkets, several good cafes and restaurants, a wonderful patisserie, and an array of typical French country boutiques.

Arnay-le-Duc has two good pharmacies, with pharmacists who can provide basic first aid. Arnay also has a clinic and many excellent doctors. There are well-equipped hospitals nearby in Dijon and Beaune.

Traditional Arts
Arnay and its environs have many local artisans, including the Patisserie, a remnant of a bygone age offering traditional French pastries, sweets, and chocolates.
Another Option--Bligny-sur-Ouche
Ten minutes away towards Beaune is the picturesque village of Bligny-sur-Ouche. It is a typical large village of the region with a charming main square, restaurants, bakery, cafes, a small supermarket and various stores for local needs. It also has one of the earliest steam engine trains in Europe, offering short tourist rides up the Ouche river valley.
